Halloween Party 2009

We had a fantastic Halloween Party! I am sad that I was too busy playing hostess, well, and drinking my wine, to snap photos of all the kiddies. However, I did snap some good ones of Tara and her "golf pro" Barton, Lovely Ladybug, Ava,  Precious "pirate" Sebastian, beautiful Izzie and Katy and David's 3month old "monkey" Enzo!  I am so sad I didn't get pics of the rest of the bunch..maybe next year. 

Costume Changes

i believe our child might change clothes more often than carrie underwood, beyonce and justin timberlake during their concerts combined. maybe since trey was playing "host" and it was "his party" he felt entitled to wardrobe changes or maybe it was because he was trying to impress his new girlfriend: Hallie 

whatever the rhyme or reason i was ready for him to stick with one.

we started off as a monkey. thinking that was too hot. didn't last long....

next we were a pumpkin

in the end trey chose his "birthday suit"....

King Trey: Your Food is Served

last night i had one of my undiagnosed(i've labeled myself) ADD moments. i decided it was high time i started cooking trey's baby food.  
first, i headed to buy some baby cooker/food processor that cost an arm and a leg: come on' its baby food how expensive does the blade need to be.Then the sales girl at Right Start guilted me into buying this cookbook that was a "must". after leaving with my goods and a my empty pockets i headed to good ole HEB and well, friends, this is how it went down.


i'm cruising down the bean aisle trying to push my cart, keep my purse on my shoulder and drink my coffee and then yes, the coffee went flying everywhere. and what did i hear, "clean up on aisle 4". i guess when your grocery shopping you need both hands to steer the cart and grab your items. 
Next, i went to the aisle with all the cans. my recipe called for "tomato puree" and all i could find was "tomato paste".....now i was reallly in a pickle.  since my husband is the wonderful cook in our family i only go the grocery for necessities: 
frozen dinners, wine, beer,laundry detergent, paper towels, mascara, toilet paper and fresh flowers. so when i came upon the puree vs paste issue i was stumped. i asked this sweet lady if there was a difference. she kindly, but her eyes told a different story, said "sweetie, the baby won't notice"...so i never got my answer and just went the paste.  as i was finishing up i grabbed some flowers and headed to checkout. in line, i started looking for my car keys (i am a repeat offender) and knocked the flowers to floor...petals went everywhere and once again i hear, "clean up at checkout 10"...low and behold its the same dude who cleaned up my coffee on aisle 4...boy was he ready for me to leave!


after arriving home i realized i needed to read the directions on baby cooker so that took some time. after i was said and done this is what it looked like: not very much. And Master Trey didn't even want a taste test! In hind sight i should have doubled or tripled the recipe...maybe next time.


My ahh moment:: i came to realize certain things:
1. keep your receipt: the baby cooker is probably going back or i might kindly give to a friend/mommy who better at this than me.
2. things i AM: a good friend, funny, a good hostess/party planner, good listener,kind,a talker,obsessed with all things paper:invitations, stationary, a multi-tasker
things i  AM NOT: organized(still waiting for Santa to bring that trait for Christmas), a cook, a photographer(i know i need classes)


I think God made us to have different talents so that we can share with others. I want to thank my friends who are organized:::You instill in me a motivation to try and better myself at this, thanks to my friends who are excellent cooks: because i'm lucky to get invited to your house to eat!, thanks to my friends who are superb photographers and photogenic because i get to see beauty and livin' life in your everyday photos.  Thanks to all my relationships for sharing with me things that I "lack" and it is my hope that i help you with your "lacks"!!!

7Months!

Trey is 7months old today. WOW.
After my delivery I was in ICU for about 6 hours because I had lost so much blood they were observing me to make sure I wouldn't need a blood transfusion, then When I was going through my difficult C-Section recovery, couldn't drive for 3months, seeing a Wound Care Doctor for weeks on end,Trey had Colic(yes,its as demanding as people say it is), Trey had GERD, Trey was in the Hospital at Texas Children's, Lola, our beloved dog goes blind....I told my Mom "When is this going to end" and she said, "Honey, it goes by so fast this will all be a distant memory in just a short short time". I didn't get it then, but I do now.

When your living in the moment, and that moment is particulary tough at the time, it seems like it will never end, but it does. And boy is there light at the end of the tunnel.  Trey, Mommy would go back to those moments and do them a million times again if that means seeing/feeling the joy, excitement, and love that you bring to me and Daddy everyday. You are the light in our eyes and its an honor to be your parents. Happy Birthday!

Today I realized how hard it is to convince your almost "7month" old...to "sit still", "look at the camera" "don't move" all while your trying to adjust the camera, zoom in zoom out, get the right lighting, get them to smile...WHEW...now I know why people pay to have this done. Its work!! We shall try for "Take 2"photoshoot again soon, maybe when I have a "wing man" to help me!

Tia Luvi...

Thank you Tia Luvi for keepin' Trey stylish! I think it's a toss up as to whether he is so happy because of his cute outfit or his toes...I'm betting on the toes!! He loves those feet!

Lucky

We have added a new member to our family. Meet our four-legged new buddy, approx. 8month old Poodle Mix. He kept lingering around our porch and was just pitiful looking. So we made a bunch of flyers, distributed them throughout our neighborhood streets, sent an email to our Neighborhood Association and just WAITED for that special, loving owner to Call us!!!!

Over the next 24hours we were smitten. So we decided to take him to our vet and get him "checked out", thats all just "checked out". Right.

Next thing you know we are staring at a $500 plus estimate to get this buddy all fixed up: neuter,full hair shave(his hair was horribly matted), flea bath, duclaw removed, all his shots, etc...We thought, well, if someone does come a calling for him maybe they'll reimburse us...we took a gamble. Then we bought a crate, got him a harness etc and 5 days later that "LOVING OWNER" we were anxiously waiting to call, has yet to ring us! THANK GOODNESS because we are all so attached already that We might have to pay them to let us keep him.

So I was trying to be clever and come up with a really snazzy name: Then my sister said, "Name him Lucky". I responded "Why, bc its his Lucky day"? She replied, "Ummm, No, because he was "LUCKY" to find suckers like you guys to take him in and within 24hours, not evening knowing if his owners would come calling you guys gave him a makeover and clean bill of health"!! HA!

So.... we still have our signs out, certainly don't want to be known in the neighborhood as "Dog Snatchers" but pretty sure we're going to be "Lucky" enough to keep him!

Also, After a few days of anxiety Miss Lola is quite happy with her new buddy, however she has no problem telling him she doesn't want to play....and likes him even more so after he was neutered!!!

BabyLegs.....

I have been eyeing some Babylegs for a while now. Just waiting for the weather to turn cool or at least cooler, for me to test them out! Then I thought, hmmm maybe these aren't for boys. When I poised this question to my friend and mother of 2 (Carter and Addison) she said, "They need to be really BOYISH, or maybe you just need a GIRL!!! Well, since the latter isn't being "attempted" in the near future I decided to try and find some BOY looking BabyLegs. Mission accomplished and then Michael came home and said, "Is our son wearing leggings"? Anyhow, here we are yesterday leaving the grocery store sportin' his leggings. Whatcha think? I think he looks super cute, however I'm his Mom and I think his Boogers are cute which makes my judgement a little biased.
