Slip n Slide: 2009

we spent the fourth of july in rockport.  this year we bought a slip n slide...ahhh i can still remember my days on the fun, yellow slide.  remember the one? it was really long, you had to put in about 20 stakes to hold it down and then you could slide all day? hmmmm...not anymore.  now a days someone somewhere got real "fancy" with the slip n slide and while it looks real purtty...it doesn't slide so much.  no stakes needed,not real long..by the time your belly hits the slide your done...no running start needed(which was half the fun might i add), its got a little pool at the bottom which is fine...but we have a blow up pool...we want to slide....it also took a doctor,a computer guru, a banker, and a 4year old to figure it out...we want  the old, basic, run of the mill, 20 stake, running needed, slippery, wet slip n slide back! I know its the age of "modern'' and "new" but some things are better left the way they are!!! we ended up having fun anyway. i posted a picture of michael demonstrating "how its done"...he won't be thrilled that i've posted it, but how could i not? 

the first three pictures below is what i saw when i looked out our window on sunday morning. trey had blessed us that morning at 530 ready to play..so michael being sweet, let me sleep in and took trey outside. when i opened the door i heard them just chatting away...michael talking to trey about the water, the boats, learning to jet ski one day and trey ''oohhing and ahhing" in response...what i wouldn't have given for my video camera...(i had it with me but neglected to charge the battery..ugg).  the first pic is foggy but as the morning progresses it becomes a nice picture. my two favorite boys in the whole world. trey i want you to know that your daddy loves you so much. he talks to you all the time,i never imagined michael being able to just make up words and "chitter chatter" but with you he is a new person. going to work is hard for him and he calls us all the time probably 4 or 5 times a day and when he is home he is ALL ABOUT YOU.  you are daddy's ''trey-man foo"

I just love this picture. It was taken in May while celebrating Kristin's Birthday.

It really speaks volumes about how much we love each other, and how much fun we have while in one another's company. We miss having ya'll "out back"...its been a real change for michael and i not to have you guys here....we miss you both.
BTW: thats the first margarita i had in 12 months.....

Fathers Day 09: Arts and Crafts

ok, so aunt deena made this yummy cake and i did the letters. they are supposed to be all the "dads" initials..BOP, MJC,SRH, and MRH...maybe i should have "clumped" them together more to seperate the names???



michael likes to barbque so i had an apron made courtsey of snapfish! then i put trey's footprints on it.





a banner...turned out pretty cute! now its hanging in daddy's office..i like to think it makes him 'happy' the colors are certainly happy colors!

Splish Splash

for fathers day weekend we braved I-45 on a Friday and headed north to dallas. trey was a rockstar. he slept the entire way...WHEW. I never knew packing for one child for one weekend could involve so much STUFF. Before i had a kid i thought two hands was plenty: now i wish i had eight....think of all we moms could accomplish with 8 hands. we had the car loaded: the bobby, the sound machines (yes, plural,he needs 2), the loud fan, the bumbo, clothes, diapers, bottles, pacifiers, swimgear, sunscreen, the cozy floor mat,the sling, baby bjorn, the snap n go, the nap nanny....hmmm and then we loaded our STUFF...michael's bike, helmet etc....i am always grateful for maria who is here to care for trey while i do all this....

Note to Trey: i hope by the time you are ready for summer camp you can trim down your "high maintenance" list of needs: however, if you turn out to have more of mommy's personality then i better get you the large duffel bag......


it was a special weekend because trey got to meet his great grandparents, his cousin Ella, uncle michael and aunt deena all for the very first time! my sister, ashley, michael's parents: yaya and pop pop were also part of our "party"!
trey got into the pool and we even put him under water(we caught that on video!) i was a water baby and i hope trey enjoys it as well. we are starting a "mommy and baby" swimming class at the houstonian this summer. should be alot of fun. below are some snapshots of our little "fish"!

Sleep for the Weary!!!!!

Last night was a huge accomplishment for our little guy! He actually slept for more than 1 1/2 hours and in his OWN CRIB, in his OWN ROOM nonetheless. Mommy and Daddy couldn't be happier. Who knows if this will become the "norm" or not but at least for one night we all got 7plus hours of rest!!! Let the record show that on June 13/14th, the day before his 3Month Birthday, Trey Casey went down at 8:30, we fed him at 11, asleep again by 11:20 and we didn't see him until 6:45AM...SLEEP IS SWEET!!!!!!

Giving credit where credit is due: I was flipping through COOKIE magazine last week and stumbled upon the Nap Nanny. We were hesitant to buy it because we have purchased so many "sleeping apparatuses" all claiming to work "miracles" and are now piled in the playroom collecting dust or has become Lola's new toy. But we went ahead and purchased it and boy are we glad. We just received it and Trey slept it in from day one! The nice thing is that its portable! So CHEERS to you sweet baby, Trey!

Daddy's Travels

Daddy has been on a European "whirlwind" trip this past week for work. However, he did get some "play" time in on the side. He was in Amsterdam, Berlin and Munich. He loved Amsterdam for 2 reasons one because he got to rent a bike and ride around everywhere and twothey put mayo on everything..YUCK..I"m not a mayo fan! While he was traveling he picked up a few items for Trey. One was a handmade puppet that is just so cute, another was this ball/toy contraption, thing- e- ma bob and then this Hand Knit Hat...which is just sooo cute!!! I was worried Trey wouldn't go for it... but we put it on him and he seemed to like it! Hopefully it will still fit when we are in Vail for Christmas.

PaPa's Day

In honor of my Dad's very first "PaPa's Day" Trey and I did some "baking". Now, I could have called up CRAVE, Sweet Alexander's or Sugarbabies, like I usually do, but I wanted to make these special for my Dad. I won't show you the "first batch" but they certainly bordered on the line of "what the hell is that"!! HA! Our Nanny, Maria, was quite tickled at all the commotion going on in the kitchen but she let me mess up once or twice before lending a helping hand. I'm not a cook, a baker, nor will I ever be. I am a much more fun hostess when catering is involved! I bought a pan in the shape of hearts but.. even the ones below didn't turn out exactly as I had envisioned however they were a big hit with my Dad so that was fun!

We did Fathers/Papas Day with him early because we will be in Dallas on Fathers Day Weekend. It was also Trey's first outing to a restaurant at night!! We went to El Tiempo and Well, we were part of the
"5pm seating"....it was just us and the staff. Trey was great, no colic, or what we call "fuss monkey" business for him that night! WHEW!!! How nice!
